In January 2003, Victor Film Company was acquired by
the Caparo Group and re-launched as AV Pictures Ltd with
Angad Paul as Chairman and Vic Bateman as Managing Director.
Since the formation of the company, AV Pictures' role has
expanded from international film sales agency to also incorporate
co-financing and production.
The company library encompasses a wide range of genre
with titles including Wilderness, Black
Water, The Other Half, Daylight Robbery, Clubbed,
Lesbian Vampire Killers, The Ministers & Dark Streets and
high-octane action thriller The Tournament.
AV's current line-up features Freight,
a contemporary action thriller about human trafficking
which received its premiere screening at the AFM 2009;
and Australian horror movie Primal -
a frenzied, visceral nightmare in the vein of Cabin
Fever - which
screened for the first time at the EFM Berlin in February
2010.
The latest titles on the AV slate include Shank,
a fresh & gritty action film for the youth generation
- the UK's City of God - features a bright young
cast including Adam Deacon ( Kidulthood; Adulthood )
and Kaya Scodelario (Clash of the Titans; Wuthering
Heights). Following a successful UK theatrical release
by Revolver, the film will premiere for international distributors
in Cannes 2010.
Also debuting in Cannes is crime thriller Bonded
By Blood which is based on the true story of
the three infamous victims of ‘the Essex Murders' and
charts their rise to becoming the most prolific drug
dealers and feared criminals in the south of England
until their untimely death in 1995. Featuring a cast
including Tamer Hassan (Kick-Ass Clash
of the Titans; The Business) and Terry
Stone (Rise of the Footsoldier). AV will screen
the completed film for the first time at LUFF 2010 and
Revolver will release the film theatrically in the UK
in August of the same year.
Hot from the success of Kidulthood , director
Menhaj Huda will next helm Comedown ,
an urban horror story starring Geoff Bell (The Business)
and Martin Compston (The Disappearance of Alice Creed ;
Red Road) which will enter production in the last
quarter of 2010.
Next up, AV will produce Gladiators Vs Werewolves, an
explosive battle between the deadliest trained fighters
of ancient Rome and a ferocious tribe of savage werewolves.
The first part of the trilogy, entitled Edge of Empire,
is due to commence shooting in the last quarter of 2010
with Rob Green directing, supported by the Special Effects
talents of Shaune Harrison (Harry Potter & the
Half-Blood Prince; Harry Potter & the Order of the
Phoenix; Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire) and
Second Unit Director Peter Field (Quantum of Solace;
Troy; Lara Croft:Tomb Raider).
Currently in development, AV's exciting new line-up also
includes intense psychological thriller The Unblinking
Eye, set to star Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The
Losers; Watchmen) with Michael J. Bassett (Solomon
Kane) on directing duties. And Night Flower, a
terrifying romance from the co-writer of Sexy Beast who
will make his directorial debut on the picture which will
re-team him with Ray Winstone (The Departed; Beowulf;
Sexy Beast).
